Mobile App Privacy Policy
Effective Date:
This Privacy Policy explains how Universal Verify LLC ("Universal Verify," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in the Digital ID Verifier mobile apps for iOS and Android (the "Apps"). It covers both App operators and people presenting a digital ID.
This policy covers the Apps' local, in-person verification features. Our general Privacy Policy covers our website and hosted verification services. Those services' ID storage and retention practices do not apply to the Apps' local verification.
1. Digital ID Verification
The Apps let an operator request information from a nearby person's digital ID for an in-person identity or age check. The ID holder reviews and authorizes disclosure through their wallet or credential provider. Depending on the operator's settings and the credential's capabilities, the operator can see:
- An ID portrait for visual matching.
- Given name and family name.
- Age in years or confirmation that the person meets a selected minimum age.
Verification information is handled locally on the operator's device through platform services or the App. Any ID information processed directly by an App is held in memory only for the current check.
The Apps do not upload ID information or verification results to Universal Verify, retain them after a check closes, or provide ID history, export, or sharing features.
2. Settings Stored on Your Device
The Apps save preferences locally, including requested fields, the age threshold, and dismissed informational messages. These preferences do not contain information from presented IDs.
Preferences remain until changed or removed. You can change or reset request preferences in Settings, or remove local data through your operating system's app-data controls, where available, or by deleting the App. Backups and restoration depend on your operating system and backup settings. Universal Verify does not provide cloud synchronization for these preferences.
3. Sharing and Platform Services
The business or individual conducting a check is responsible for its use of information it sees and its applicable obligations. This policy does not cover that verifier's separate records or practices.
Device, operating-system, app-store, and wallet providers may independently process information to support verification, configure the reader, distribute software, or provide diagnostics and backups. Their processing and retention follow their own policies and your settings, including the Apple Privacy Policy, the Google Privacy Policy, and your credential or wallet provider's policy.
4. Accounts, Advertising, and Analytics
The Apps do not require an account, contain advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs, use advertising identifiers, or operate a separate usage-analytics or crash-reporting service.
Your operating-system or app-store provider may make usage statistics or crash diagnostics available to us under its policies and your settings. We use these to maintain and improve the Apps. We do not add presented ID information to logs or diagnostics.
Opening a website link from an App, including this policy, sends a normal browser request. Website hosting, request logs, and any website analytics are covered by our general Privacy Policy.
5. Contacting Support
If you contact us, we receive the information you provide, such as your email address, message, and attachments. Authorized staff and support service providers use it to respond, investigate issues, and meet related security or legal obligations. Please do not send copies of IDs or unnecessary identity information.
We retain support correspondence and diagnostic information we receive for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve issues, provide follow-up, maintain the Apps, or meet legal obligations, then delete or anonymize it. You can request deletion using the contact details below, subject to applicable retention requirements.
6. Security and Your Choices
The Apps use digital-credential protocols and device security features for verification, and operating-system application storage for settings. Security also depends on the reader and wallet devices' protections and access controls.
- ID holders: Review requested information and decline or cancel a presentation using your wallet or device's controls.
- App operators: Select the information needed for your check, change or reset preferences in Settings, and manage device permissions through your operating system.
- Privacy requests: Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, or obtain a copy of personal information we hold, and to complain to a relevant authority. Contact us to exercise applicable rights.
7. Changes to This Policy
We will publish updates here and revise the effective date as the Apps or our practices change. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before changing how we handle personal information.
